Overview of Human Resources Management:
As with any organization, there is a single individual providing overall functional leadership and direction based on the goals and strategies of the organization. For Human Resources this position is often a VP or Senior VP. It is not unusual for HR to report into a senior leader of Operations, though, instead of directly reporting in to the chief executive. If an organization is large enough or diverse enough, functionally or geographically, a level of directors would directly interface with the functional managers within HR. Senior leaders in Human Resources must be well versed in all disciplines of HR and act as strategic business partners to the rest of the organization.
